Gwimake & Gunmaku

Gwimake is situated in the Magdalena department, close to Aracataca. 

Together with Moto Taxis, Colombian photographer Osacar Torres Abdala and I departed after a three-hour bus ride from Valledupar, ascending the mountains to our first overnight stop, Gwimake. 

Gwimake is a small farm where the owner, an Arhuaco, resides with his family. After spending the night outdoors in hammocks, we set off in the company of two younger Arhuaco towards the settlement of Gunmaku. Along the way from the school, we encountered several people and children. Regrettably, we were not permitted to enter the village due to ongoing meetings. The nearby river provided an excellent location for photogrpahy. The river also marks the border between Kogi and Arhuaco territory.
