Nabusimake
Nestled within the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Nabusimake, located in César Department, serves as the spiritual heart of the Arhuacos indigenous community. In their native tongue, Nabusimake translates to "Land where the sun was born".
Accompanying me were Colombian photographers Roberto Gutierrez and Oscar Torres Abdala.
In the nearby town of Pueblo Bello, we had breakfast and procured supplies for our journey. We traveled for more then three hours in a 4x4 jeep along challenging paths that ascended into the mountains towards Nabusimake, where we encountered a checkpoint just before arriving at the village.
We spent the night outside the village at a finca. The next day, we were welcomed by the Mamo, and each of us took part in a spiritual session.
