Vianden liberation
Liberation of Vianden Documentary - Sequence shooting in Longsdorf & Vianden.
The rather bad weather on March 13 and a later shooting on the 2nd October 2021 in Vianden greatly contributed to the overall "shooting" session by MK HOOLUX Productions to document the final liberation of Vianden, last Luxembourg town to be liberated by US troops (1255th Eng Bn) on Feb. 12, 1945! It just "added" to the climatic atmosphere, as probably was on that date 76 years ago. The small village of Longsdorf had been selected by the producers to shoot a number of sequences and close-ups of the clash of US footsoldiers and "dug-in" German "Volksgrenadiers".
MK HOOLUX Productions is a young Luxembourg video company specializing in documentaries. Its two executives, Kim MAKKINGA and Tom FEHLEN had again recruited reenactors of two local historical reenactment societies to portray the authors of February 1945 and to stage the facts under the guidance of Marcel Scheidweiler, Han Makkinga, Roby Fehlen and Roland Gaul as technical and historical advisers.
